To save the security deposit the candidates in Belagavi must get minimum 199151 votes. Looks like all the 56 candidates will lose it, except Suresh Angadi.

Last time Angadi had won with a margin of 75000 votes but this time the margin has doubled. He is now also a contender for being a minister in the central cabinet.

Upgraded Belagavi Airport to lose its only AirBus Flight

$

The Belagavi airport just managed to reach 6 flights a day from 0, and after the upgradation, Air India was the lone player who was flying an Air Bus to Belagavi.

But the bad news is always there for the people of Belagavi, we are always treated differently and only God knows why?

From June 1, Air India will Stop its Air Bus service to Belagavi.

The Belagavi airport has been upgraded and now is capable of handling Air Bus 300/320 type aircraft and for the same, the runway was expanded.

But now the morning Airbus flight which had a 95% load factor will be stopped. So instead of three flights to Bengaluru, we will be on two and the best morning flight to BLR is no more there.

The Airbus plane has been diverted to Hubbali and the Hubballi – Bengaluru ATR plane will be shifted to Belagavi.

If there aren’t gonna be any AirBus planes then why was this airport expanded and why was so much of land acquired in the first place. The Instrument landing system (ILS)work is in progress at the Sambra airport which will make it easier for night landing.

But even after expansion of the runway if only ATR’s have to be flying from here, why was this expanded spending so much of money.

And why is that the lone Air Bus service has been shifted to Hubballi. Our newly elected Member of parliament may not be aware of this or he might be aware but may not know about the Airbus or the ATR.

Now after the IXG-BLR flight cancellation from Belagavi, it will start HBX-BLR from June 1. So in short, the flight from here has been shifted to HBX.

airport-airbus
Marking for the bigger planes at the IXG airport

Many reading would say this is the Airlines priority, but as elected representatives, they must try and get the best to the city. Here we had got it but have now lost it, so who is responsible?

Is there some kind of arrangement, the best things which will be planes, routes go to HBX and then whatever remains comes to Belagavi. Be it buses or planes are treated always differently and the worst part is our MP’s and MLA’s never ever raise a voice against this.

Many would comment is this the only thing the elected Representatives should be working for? No, but this also has to be done to create an image for the city.

Belagavi has never been a brand on its own even when it has the capacity and has more resources than other cities, but one has never ever seen Belagavi with that view.

We are all laid back, planes are canceled- “What can I Do if it is canceled? How can I fight for it ?”

Elected representatives, please get up and act, it is not that we are just losing an Airbus plane we are losing our identity and when no one raises a voice it is assumed people are happy and contented, when in reality there is a fire burning but no one wants to turn that fire into an inferno.

We again have to come together and restart the SaveIXG campaign, we need the best.

Wells drying up after new Borewell dug up at Kala Mandir premises

The residents around Kala Mandir were surprised to see the water level in their wells go down drastically in the last one week.

Many residents have submersible water pumps which have to be always under water. Since the water levels went down suddenly, many pumps went out of service and needed a repair and it was then the residents came to know about the drop in water levels.

Initially, the blame was on the summers. People assumed that this year the summer was so intense that dried their wells which never happened in decades. Very soon they came to know about the real reason when they saw a few tankers at Kala Mandir.

borewell-kalamandir

A borewell has been dug at Kala Mandir. Many water tankers are in queue filling a million gallons of water per day. The water is used for watering (curing) the newly laid concrete Congress road.

Few people are also forced to order water tankers for their daily requirements, thus causing an extra financial burden.

The residents request the concerned authority to order external water tankers and not to extract water from borewells as it may affect the water table on a long term basis.

SpiceJet to launch Flight to Mumbai by June 20

For those frequent-flyers, the most sought after route Mumbai will be launched by SpiceJet by June 20, the same was tweeted by Member of Parliament Suresh Angadi.

Suresh Angadi who is in Delhi met Shri Pradeep Singh Kharola secretary Civil aviation & discussed on getting more flights to Belagavi and also spoke to Chairman of SpiceJet Ajay Singh over the phone, where he promised to commence the Bengaluru – Belagavi – Mumbai Flight by June 20 positively.

The flight to Mumbai will be under the UDAN 3.0 and hence there will be a price cap for a certain number of seats.

It is still not clear whether it will be from the Bombardier fleet or will be the Boeing 737 or Air Bus 319/320.

ang-kharolaAfter all the criticism, Suresh Angadi has pro-actively contacted and also told the citizens about it. But we also wish he presses more on retaining the bigger planes coming to IXG.

So let us wait for the official word from SpiceJet.

Understanding between Angadi and Joshi, hence Air bus shifted to HBX

Member of Parliament Suresh Angadi has been quoted in newspapers that,

There is an understanding/agreement between Pralhad Joshi & Suresh Angadi, before the election.
As per that agreement, Air India shifting from Belagavi and Alliance Air will continue its services. It is not a question of the power of MP.

But why an agreement between MP’s and the citizens who have voted for you are kept in dark about this understanding or special arrangement.

Suresh Angadi
Suresh Angadi

The Air India flight shifted to HBX was the only Air Bus service to Belagavi and other cites take pride in boasting that they have an airport on which bigger airplanes land and take off. But with your intelligent understanding, city of Belagavi has lost this opportunity.

The understanding also defies logic. Why would anyone want to lose on a bigger aircraft when it had good load factor and mainly it was in the morning which was very ideal for travelers from here.

In the past as well, SpiceJet shifted all its services to HBX and our airport even after up-gradation was lying idle.

In reply on twitter –

Now that we have UDAN at Belagavi I can get any number of flights depending of the demand and feasibility. Let’s not get into any political or comparison mode. I assure my citizens that More flights and more routes will come soon

Kala Mandir is gone what about a place for artists ?

Ravindra Natya Mandir in Mumbai.

Balgandharva Kala Dalan in Pune.

Kala Academy in Goa.

Freedom Park in Bangalore.

Etc.

These places are at prime locations and are run by the government. These have given a platform to many artists who are celebrities today. An artist needs a platform to showcase his art or talent. Sadly, Belagavi doesn’t have any and the ones that existed are been brought down making way for malls and shopping complexes.

Kala Mandir is been demolished and we were hoping to see a new structure to come up which had an art gallery for photography exhibitions, elegant stage for dramas, a big hall for painting workshop or yoga sessions or kathak practices, acoustic seminar hall for startup talks or seminars and much more. But alas, this is not gonna happen and a yet another shopping mall will take its place.

kalamandir
PC: Dharmen Purohit

Development doesn’t only mean building roads, bridges, and malls. People need to develop simultaneously. Art has to be given due importance and every city should mandatorily have a platform for artists. Many artists suppress their talent just because of the absence of a platform.

Many may not agree with the view, but once if you visit all the places mentioned above and the activities that happen there, you will get my point. I could host India’s first food photography exhibition at Balgandharva Pune only because someone decided not to demolish it and make it a mall. Soon after the exhibition, so the Belagavi Cell shots group was created. So you know the importance of a “platform”.
