This is known as Level crossing No.381 (Third Gate), as per our sources, the RoB will be a 4 Laned RoB with Centre Pillars as the one on Old Dharwad Road.

Now the issue of traffic diversion will arise as the said gate will be closed during the construction period which we assume to be around 18-24 months which is standard for such a RoB.

The pillars would be in the centre of the Khanapur road and will span on each side of the gate.

All the traffic from Udyambag wanting to cross over to Khanapur Road will have to make use of the Second gate. No official communication in this regard has been made by the Traffic police as yet.

Prepare kids to deal with failure, rejection

by Tejas Kolekar

Whenever I hear any incidents of suicide in youngsters, I really feel a Genius is lost. It was only for that moment when that child loses the confidence, which could be handled well if they know how to deal with rejections and failures. Failures are a part of life; they come and go. What we need to do is prepare them mentally for such situations.

Communication plays a vital role in understanding situations and emotions. A child has a lot of things to discuss with their parents, but the priorities what we choose make them feel lonely. I would request each parent to analyze the requirements children have and spend time with them discussing it. Add proper values by first following it yourself, which they will adapt automatically later. Give them the liberty to come and talk to you on any matter without any hesitation and let them know you are there to listen, understand, and help.

Children feel lonely only when they don’t have anyone to share their feelings. The society also plays a very important role in handling today’s young children. We together should take responsibility for promoting good values and help them follow it.

failureMoral support and emotional understanding from closed ones is the top priority for a healthy relation. This will, in turn, boost confidence and increase the ability to handle tough situations of life. There are problems for everyone, but smart people are those who come out of it with a plan and a proper solution. Parents need to understand that when they communicate and share their feelings, they like it very much and it makes them relaxed.

Quality time with family becomes very important than any other priorities in your life. With a healthy parent-child relation, things get conveyed very easily and it makes the child learn faster. Things like decision making and handling emotions are the most important things in today’s world for each parent-child to learn and adapt and help each other in times when one needs it.

It is useless to comment after a mishap about things you had to do. If there are any hints which you are getting about, reach out to the child, teachers, and take help from the concerned, but please do not ignore or wait for something to happen. A LIFE LOST CAN NEVER COME BACK AT ANY COST. How to handle failure or rejections of life need to be counseled from the parents or educators to children today, because it is the culture being build up by the society today that you have to WIN always whatever may be the situation.

Understand the Parenting your child needs and act Accordingly.

Farmers oppose setting up Sewage treatment plant at Halga

Farmers have demanded that the Sewage treatment plant envisaged to be built at Halga must be shifted elsewhere and their land acquired must be returned to the farmers. The farmers raised this concern at the meeting called by minister Satish Jarkiholi to discuss the issue of land acquisition to set-up a sewage treatment plant (STP).

Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) has planned to set-up an STP on 17 acres and 30 guntas of land at Halaga village, close to Suvarna Vidhana Soudha (SVS). Earlier this STP was to be set up at Alarwad but due to infeasibility report, the plan was shifted to alga and the 21 farmers from whom the land has been acquired have approached the court against the acquisition.

The meeting also witnessed a high volume verbal clash between Belagavi Rural MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar and Belagavi South MLA Abhay Patil.
Hebbalkar was furious as to why land in Rural constituency are to be acquired already the farmers have given land for the SVS and suggested the STP could be shifted to Khasbag. Replying to the Hebbalkar, South MLA Patil said he is not here to discuss politics but for development and if need be I will convince the people of my area if the land is required.

farmer-stp-hlaga

Farmers at the meeting said they had no choice but to commit suicide if their fertile land was acquired for STP.

CCB Commissioner Kurer said that, in 2015, 19 acres of land was identified in Halga for the STP under the AMRUT scheme and Rs.1.12 crore compensation was awarded. But work could not be started as the farmers approached the court. In 2017 the court rejected the farmers plea but due to protests work hasn’t been started.

A committee will now be formed which will also have farmers on board to come to a solution.

The Mega Biodiversity Park, which is the first of its kind in North Karnataka raised by forest department besides Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Belagavi, is now in a pathetic state due to the dearth of funds.

The Biodiversity Park had more than seventy thousand saplings spread in 320 acres of land near Machche village on Chorla Ghat road. Out of the total land, 60 acres was developed by intensive gardening. The Biodiversity Park was developed under ‘Nagara Vana Udyan’ project by Government of India. As many as 80 per cent expenses of the project were shared by the Central Government and the remaining twenty per cent by the State Government.

bio-diversityAccording to sources, Rs two crore was sanctioned by the Central Government for the same. But the remaining 20 per cent, which was to be contributed by the State government has remained neglected.

The park has saplings of over 350 species like Kadagala Murga, Chandana, Pennerale etc. There was a plan for Children’s Play area, jogging path, cycle path, food court, drinking water facility, permanent sitting arrangement, rest rooms, Yoga center, Meditation center, butterfly park, Topiary garden, nature interpretation center and more. But, due to a dearth of funds, food court, drinking water facility, rest rooms and more have remained just on the drawing papers.

The much-awaited Rotary Annatsov has started at CpEd Ground and like the many years before this, the event is already turning out to be a crowd puller with no parallels. If there is one place where the foodies of this world can converge and satisfy their taste buds to their fullest delight, it is the annatsov.

Like every year the stalls are an amazing and delectable mix of cuisine from across the length and breadth of the country with delightfully magical mouth watering dishes. Walk around the stalls and you cannot but resist to put your hands on the irresistible bites.

Several stalls are stealing the show this year, you can start at the Shafiq Bhais Lahori stall to begin with and is you have a taste for non veg this is the place to be for the next ten days. The stall has several yummy dishes to offer. The mutton nihari is a show stopper, the taste reminds you of the restaurants at the gates of Jama Masjid, finely chopped succulent pieces of lamb, cooked in just the right spices with an extra allowance of ghee and an hint of the best spices, cooked over the flame for three full hours gives the end result, the special Nihari. The Nihari tastes best with the Rumali Roti made fresh at the stall, the making of which in itself is something to watch. As the chef turns his roti in the air and gives it a spread you can only hold your mouth open in awe.

rotary Annatsov

Also up for the palates at the Lahori are the Kebabs, there are many on offer, the mouth watering spicy hot chicken tikka kebab for those who prefer it tingling hot and the chicken malai kabab for those who don’t trouble their palates that much. But the show stopper is the mutton sheek kabab, finely ground mutton, with the most choicest spices hand put on the skewers with the most delicate technique to form cylindrical tubes and grilled over coal, matured slowly giving it a smoky flavor is just perfect for your palates.

The stall also has the Biryanis and the Koftas and you get the same feel as that of being at the Karims in Delhi or the Tunday kabab in Lucknow. This is a must visit stall for all.

Another stall which is doing the rounds is the Zayaka Punjabi Rasoi, its actually a two in one stall which has the best of Haryana and Punjab. The stall is offering the most amazing Makke di Roti and Sarson da Saag but that’s not the only thing there you can relish.

Go to the left flank and you see Taau Baljit Singh the master chef himself making the most fascinating Jalebis of the season. The jalebis are prefect to beat the winter chill and one is enough to fill your tummy. Fried in Desi Ghee it would seem a little heavy, but what the heck, for sweet tooths like us this is perfect. Its a delight to see Taau make them, he is no ordinary chef and had been invited to several countries and special occasions in the highest places. Having it piping hot makes it more desirable in the Belagavi chill.

Another must eat at the Punjab Rasoi is the Amritsari Kulcha. The kulcha is made with vegetable filling and baked to perfection with a hint of sesame seeds and brought to taste in a tandoor at just the right temperature. You just can’t get over the texture of the kulcha if not the taste, the kulcha can be crumpled into your hands and yet retains its shape, this is amazing. Put in a little chole, a mango pickle and some finely cut onions and you have the perfect punjabi dinner.

Eaten freshly from the tandoor with a spread of butter, you just can’t stop at eating one. A number of other accompaniments are at offer and this stall is worth more than just one visit.

For foodies, it’s going to be a fabulous fortnight and you have to say Rotary has brought delight to the food lovers of Belagavi yet again.

45 councilors from the Belagavi City Corporation have yet again embarked on a journey to Mysuru on Sunday to learn about Smart City mission implementation.

Last week only the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) seems to be facing insolvency going by the fact that it is struggling to pay its employees and clear electricity dues. The city corporation owes Rs 18 crore to its employees including pourakarmikas and various service and infrastructure supply agencies.

ccb-boardBCC hasn’t paid the salary of 1,099 pourakarmikas for three months and computer operators for seven months. Electricity bills have been pending since the past several months. BCC also owes dues to agencies like Ramkey Infrastructure company, which operates solid waste management plant at Turmuri.

The term of the councilors will end in March 2019 and what will be the use of the training given in these two days only God can tell.

A couple of Months back, the councilors had been to Shimla for a tour.

Biddu: Bapu, the BJP is protesting against latest increase in taxes on petrol and diesel by JD(S)-Congress government in Karnataka.

Bapu; Yes Bittoo, I think people didn’t expect it from these two parties as they have been critical of BJP led NDA government at the centre for increasing taxes on these petroleum products during its present tenure.

Bittoo: Now trade unions have called for nation wide bandh for same reasons alongwith few other issues Bapu for two days from tomorrow, for which there’s tacit support by opposition parties Bapu?

Bapu: Hummmmm?

Bittoo; If both the ruling and opposition parties are doing same things under their powers, why the hell are they protesting against each other Bapu?

Bapu: I don’t know Bittoo.

Bittoo: What type of politics is this Bapu?.

Bapu: I really don’t know Bittoo!.

This is a citizen-centric new column, wherein the author(Bitto) is an ordinary, politically unaffiliated common man of the city who in his/her inimitable approach takes up various issues with the Bapu’s soul! Apparently, the interaction between them portrays ironies of sorts encountered by the common man and others in the city in a lighter vein. The author’s name will not be disclosed to the readers as he/she represents the common man of the society. This column aims at creating awareness and sensitising cross sections of our city on various issues of public concern only but in a lighter vein without holding any contempt against any institution or individual.
