200k+ Likes and over 202K FOLLOWS for www.facebook.com/allaboutbelgaum ; most definitely merits a Wow!!!

On the sentimental scale. When AAB began as a one-man passion, little did we realize that it would evolve to assume the status of being a “Commitment”.

People joined hands, the likes grew upon us and the humble effort seems to be gathering both momentum and followers.

While it feels nice to rest upon the acceptance value of the endeavor, some issues still continue to remain matters of concern. While the highlighting of things that mean so much to us and matter so much in our daily lives has been a satisfactory accomplishment and the quantum of readers has been satisfactory we can only hope for the contributors to grow, especially in terms of the comments and suggestions. One can also hope that the headlines that we present, spur both the people and the authorities to action so that the little anomalies are resolved before they attain unmanageable proportions and grow on us to take the shape of the problem.

200klikesWhile some issues are unique to our city, most, in general, encompasses matters that concern citizens across India and often across the globe. Local, national or international, worries will still be worries, concerns would still give sleepless nights and accomplishments would still generate the euphoria of joy in achievement.
We at All About Belgaum, especially the founder members and the contributors wish to extend our sincere thanks to our readers, friends, critics, and well-wishers for making ours such a wonderful journey.
The temptation is super and we cannot but help reiterate that 2,00,000 is most certainly worth a Wow!!
Thanks for making us such a “Happening” platform/forum and excited about the journey onwards.
Let us re-commit ourselves to sharing everything that matters and is so typical of this wonderful place of ours.

The government has asked Tahsildars of the respective taluks to seize factories which failed to clear a major chunk of the pending dues of growers. Many other sugar factories in the state are also expected to be seized by the government in the next few weeks

Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy recently had made a statement against sugar mills which have not cleared dues of farmers.

As many as nine factories in the district have failed to pay the complete payments to farmers according to the fair remunerative price (FRP) announced by the central government.

The nine factories which will be seized are: Bhagyalaxmi sugar factory of Khanapur, Renuka factory of Munavalli, Gokak Sugars of Kolavi, Someshwar factory of Bailhongal, Vishwaraj Sugars of Hukkeri, Athani Sugars, Krishna Sugars and Ugar Sugars of Athani, Malaprabha factory of MK Hubli.

For the past few months, the sugar factories were unwilling to abide by the rules and regulations laid down by the government to ensure that growers were paid as per the fair and remunerative price (FRP) fixed by the Union government for the financial year 2018-19.

Nine factories owe Rs 350.71 crore to farmers in 2018-19. These include Laila Sugars of Khanapur (Rs 32.40 crore), Ranukar Sugar of Munavalli in Savadatti taluk (Rs 45.07 crore), Gokak Sugar of Kolavi in Gokak taluk (Rs 22.40 crore), Someshwar Sugar of Bailhongal (Rs 11.91 crore) Vishwaraj Sugars of Bellad Bagewadi in Hukkeri taluk (Rs 33 crore), Athani Sugars of Athani (Rs 64.60 crore), Krishna Sugars of Athani (Rs 17.15 crore), Ugar Sugars of Ugar Khurd in Athani taluk (Rs 102.53 crore) and Malaprabha Sugars of MK Hubli in Bailhongal taluk (Rs 21.65 crore)

Belagavi Administration yet to hand over 26 acres to Airport

The Belagavi airport is coming back to its old glory from June 20 when the total number of flights from Belagavi will reach to 8 flights a day to 5 destinations namely Bengaluru (4), Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Pune.

Currently, all the planes are smaller aircraft, even when the airport is capable of handling big Airbus and Boeing air crafts.

Air India was the lone operator which was plying an Airbus in the Bengaluru route but it shifted the service to Hubballi.

370 acres had to transfer to the AAI for the Belagavi airport but only 344 acres has been transferred as on date.

ixg-airportThe 26 acres in question is under litigation and hence authorities are struggling to transfer the same.

For big aircraft like CAT-1 lights play a key role and due to nontransfer of land four CAT-1 lights are outside the compound of the airport. 16.4 gunthas of land is the immediate requirement for the CAT-1 lights to be under the AAI premises.

On the southern side as well AAI has not been able to take possession as the land is part of a graveyard and the district administration is yet to provide and alternative land for the same.

A road for the villages of Mavinkatti and Honyal villages passes right through the airport compound and the administration has still not made a road on the periphery of the airport boundary.

Also as per the Airport Director Rajesh Kumar Maurya, a proposal has already been sent to the AAI for another terminal building.

4 more booking counters will be set to accommodate more flights and operators. The installation of the ILS, the instrument landing system is in its last phase would be made operational shortly.

Under the second phase, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) plans to make Belagavi airport single-use plastic free. Single-use plastics or disposable plastics are used only once before they are thrown or recycled. Items like plastic bags, straws, coffee stirrers, soda and water bottles, six-pack rings, plastic party cups, and most food packaging fall under the single-use plastic category.

Online fraud cases on the rise: Be wise

$

With the advent of technology, the fraudsters have found new ways to con people. The use of OTP is one way, while others opt to use websites.

The online fraud cases are reported on the drastic rise, which has victimized several innocent persons in Belagavi in recent days.

Uzeerahmed Kagzi, resident of Malmaruti Extention was in search of some furniture wherein he noted furniture for sale in Belagavi. The furniture was felt to be much more expensive, but the selling price on the website was just Rs 8,500. Kagzi left his contact number for the seller on the website, after which the seller called and identified himself as Akshay Singh on Tuesday.

Kagzi thought it to be a good deal but wanted to have a first-hand look at the furniture. Responding to the same, Singh asked him to meet at the Airport in Sambra and he will show the furniture. Kagzi reached the Airport after which Singh asked him to get the gate pass for which he has to pay a deposit Rs 560 per person, which was refundable. As Kagzi was accompanied by one of his friends, he asked to deposit Rs 1,020. However, when inquired to which counter the deposit has to be paid, Singh asked to wait as he will call back immediately.

Kagzi said that Singh again called back immediately and asked him to pay the amount in a provided online account and he will arrange the gate passes. Kagzi denied and said he is ready to pay only to the official personnel’s at the airport and not to any online account. Singh tried to convince Kagzi, but he stood firm with his decision. Due to the same, Singh disconnected the phone and after that his mobile phone has remained switched-off. The logic and practical thinking of Kagzi saved him from becoming victim to the online cheaters.

Several fraud messages are going viral on mobile phones and people need to be alert to skip from getting victimized to them.

Never share your OTP with anyone. If you receive an OTP for a transaction that was not initiated by you, then immediately contact the bank or card issuer. Be extra careful not to share the OTP, especially over a phone call. It may be a fraudster who has initiated the transaction and would be seeking the OTP from you to complete it. In case you receive such a call asking for OTP, then it is time for you to immediately change your password for that account.

Card verification value (CVV) is used in situations where the personal identification number (PIN) cannot be used. The CVV is printed on the reverse of a credit or debit card. For such transactions, like at an ATM or point of sales (POS) terminal (shop), the customer is required to enter the PIN to validate the transaction. However, despite instructions by banks, people are found sharing PINs with near and dear ones. Some even write it on a paper and keep it along with the card or share it with restaurant waiters while paying their bills. No wonder, a thief would have a ball, if he lays his hands on it.

The stray dog menace hasn’t been controlled by the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) and it has failed in tackling the nuisance of stray dogs since more than a decade.

Now a group of animals lovers who have come under the banner of Belagaum Animal Rescue and Care (BARC) organization Belagavi has come forward to take up the challenge to provide a permanent solution to the problem without harming the dogs.

The stray dog menace can be curbed with systematic and proper methodology and the members of BARC have come forward to take up the responsibility.

Belagavi Animal Rescue and Care (BARC) organization BelagaviPresident of BARC Surya B Kulkarni said that vaccination, sterilization, and adoption can play a major role in bringing control on the menace of the stray dogs. He said that BARC has been doing activities for the welfare of animals in trouble in urban territories since last several months.

Sucheta Inamdar, Director, BARC said that the members of the organization have been engaged in doing welfare activities for the stray animals like providing medical aid to the injured and sick animals, helping people adopt them and more by spending from their own pockets.

Varun Karkhanis, Director, BARC said that awareness will be created in the society for changing the negative attitude of people about stray animals.

BARC has approached BCC to provide it more than 5 gunta land for establishing a shelter for the helpless and sick stray animals within the outskirts of city premises. That center will take care of all ill and injured stray animals. Their vaccination and sterilization will be taken care of.

Currently as they don’t have a shelter they can only undertake care to a limited extent, but if the Corporation can allot them one place it will help them to open a complete shelter for all animals.

One among them was More, who commenced his profession as a music teacher in the year 1998. Vinayak said there were very few students who were interested in learning music during those days when he turned up to be a teacher. But it was the start and gradually more and more persons were fascinated by music, he added.

Within a span of a decade, the talent in music has become very competitive across the world, said More. He said that though the flavors of the old music and the new music have changed, the sweetness is the same. “As a music teacher by profession, training music to the students has also become a challenge for us in this competitive world. Awakening Belagavi

$

By Satish Kumar

Its called “you need spark to shine” well I believe not always though, some will have it in them naturally, I am talking about people of liveable loveable Belagavi, this place had made special place in many hearts, and being Belgaumite that I proudly call myself, I found many such people along, just sharing about few fellow Belgaumites today.

It was when my blog buddy Uday who always run AAB for a good and common cause for citizens of Belagavi, got me into FOAB (Federation of Association of Belagavi) WhatsApp group headed by Chaitanya Kulkarni (CREDAI President) started as Save IXG campaign and I realized there are so many who aspire and have broad vision for Belagavi to grow as city with sustainable development without losing its charm. The Save IXG won its objective of getting flight connectivity back to Belagavi airport, from loss of 5 to 0 to nearby city and now 1 to 8 flights daily back in skies of Belagavi, it was a tremendous success to cheer.

Now the journey to fight back to get flight doesn’t end up here, I am talking about few same aspiring young boys, I should call them responsible netizens or twitteratis of Belagavi, started a group with so many questions to seek and see city grow and get good facilities, better air, and rail connectivity that should benefit common people of Belagavi.

Namely Ashwin Patil, Nikhil Patil, Krishna Giriyannavar Atul Magdum, went ahead to meet Airport Director Rajesh Kumar Maurya, such a wonderful soul he is (Mr. Mourya), seeing their enthusiasm, their vision for city and Airport, and what’s on card for future growth of Belagavi Airport, new flights, cargo hold, MRO new hangers, Mr. Maurya gave around good time to chat and as a goodwill gesture of the visit he twitted their zeal on official twitter of @aaiblgairport and also opened his office door every Saturday for students, Artist and professional to meet him with suggestions and discussion.

And there are more these boys wanted now, that was when our Hon MP Mr Suresh Angadiji got inducted into Union Cabinet as MOS Railways, along with Shiva and Shailesh a Vlogger makes YouTube videos on railway development happening in and around Belagavi, approached me for plans that can be submitted to our Hon MP so this will give a boost and thrust to city of Belagavi and its people.

I am sharing the same vision with all the inputs these boys have given me, and they just aspire like you and I do something good and see something better for Belagavi in the near future.

Proposed design: Track layout and Southside entrance

railway-plan belagavi

The south side access is already permitted by Hon MOS Mr. Suresh Angadiji and tender is out and soon work will begin to progress, this will be the only station in Karnataka after Bangalore and Mysore to have full fledge platform and building with a double-sided entrance.

Lines sidings and pit lines to enable more trains to originate from Belagavi, a stabling yard, and pit lines are needed for primary level maintenance, washing charging, and water filling. Shown below.

railway-plan- pitlines
The plan for the good shed being moved to Sambra there was a question why not Desur the next pic its answered

railway-plan2
The tender for movement is already permitted by our Hon MOS Suresh Angadiji, so this plan is taking shape.

About Desur it is already homing two important railway sidings one for Oil bulk depot and other for ICD (inland container depot or kind of dry port) CONOCR container corporation of India, it will enable direct sealing of containers by Excise and customs so goods can be moved out to ports directly, the industrialist need to support and utilizes this facility of ICD to export and expand. So in order to avoid congestion here at Desur, the goods shed movement to Sambra was taken, besides with overall growth and future perspective, Sambra will serve as a future satellite station and be renamed as Belagavi junction and current station as Belagavi City.

container depot
So further what more these boys want for us is the much-needed faster connectivity to Bangalore, Belagavi to Dharwad direct rail line, that will save huge time cost and fuel, reduce carbon footprints decongesting the busy NH4.

kittur-rail-lineAnd another line to connect north interior hinterland of Karnataka to give port connectivity from Vishakhapatnam-Vijayawada- Hyderbad-Raichur-Bagalkot-Lokapur-Belagavi-Londa-Vasco

raichur-rail-lineAnd just not this we need new trains from Belagavi to start, here is the wishlist

And the boys say “Yeh Dil Mage More”

A number of trains to start and terminate from here are very limited only three passenger trains Belagavi-Miraj two and one Belagavi-Hubli fast passengers originate from here, occasionally a weekend or festival special is run from Yeshvantpur- Belagavi.

Possible needs and trains to run from here with possible benefit and profit routes are listed below Belagavi Vasco Daily Intercity -Hiranykeshi Express (will help Défense people for onward journey to south on KR)

Belagavi Pune Daily Intercity — Tamrpani Express
Belagavi Bengaluru Daily Jan Shatabdi and overnight Mallaprbha Express
Belagavi Chennai Express Belagavi Mysore Express Belagavi Vijayawada Express
Belagavi Solapur Passenger
Belagavi Satara Passenger
Belagavi Gadag Passenger
New trains to pass through from
Belagavi Mysore Nizamuddin Swarnajayanti Daily
Humsafar express Daily
Pune Erankulam Daily

Belagavi Railway facilities and institutions
New Electric loco shed
Since Belagavi is centrally located and in view of future lines of expansion, it will best serve as a center point for an electric loco shed to be established here, this will fuel the growth of employment and already many Belagavi based foundries and Hydraulics industries are OEM supplier of railways.

Railways staff training college
The serene beauty and celebres climate have made Belagavi training center for most central government organization such as IT BP (Recreation Center), Indian Army (Commando School), Indian Air force (AT l), State Bank of India, Medical Council of India research center, its an urge for research Railways too establish, some level of staff training college here

New Kendriya Vidyalaya and Hospital for Railways staff The growing trends and feasibility of the development of railways in Belagavi would need more educational and medical support for railway employees, so KVS can be written to set up a Kendriya Vidyalaya school here and also a railway hospital at par with Miraj and Hubli.

This is my tribute to all the people of Belagavi along with these young boys, and my blog buddy Uday the first net connect for Belagavi and its development, besides it is just an e-connect via twitter with these boys, we all are yet to meet soon though, but more than that it was their zeal vision and growing aspiration for city, I am glad many getting to net and social media to raise and demand the concerns for society and the city we live in, I ask for more voices and such net connects, let it thrive more and I wish the liveable loveable Belagavi make more place in hearts of many.

I remain as is “The Proud Belgaumite”

Smart City work the Dumb way

In January 2016, Belagavi was selected in the first 20 cities which were to come Smart under the Ambitious smart city project.

After 3 years about 6-7 projects minor in nature have been completed like Bus shelters, Water kiosks, Etoilet to mention a few.

The first Smart road undertaken is still under construction and only the Lord can tell when the same will be made open for use.
The KPTCL road is closed for traffic for more than 2 years now and work is never-ending, the Smart city work is been done the Dumb way, citizens say.

The next road picked up was Mandoli Road, now it is no more a road. It is all mud and dust and in the monsoon, it will be one hell of a ride in the sludge.

congress-white-toppingCongress road work picked up the pace but work continues the dumb way. All traffic on one side was blocked on June 2 from the Third gate towards Gogte Circle and the white topping work was done. But there are patches which have not been filled and the police say as work is yet to be completed it cant be open for traffic.

The road currently in use was put to use in just 7-8 days after laying the concrete but the other side it’s more than 20 days.
The smart contractors make their dumbness known to all. Look at the patch near Pop in cross it has been left without concrete for 20 days now. When total traffic is blocked why wasn’t that part also laid.

In many places the utility duct one side on Congress road is not connected due to electric poles, trees.

congress-rd-concrete
Now the Smart guys will realize they left it and would start to work on it and again would request the police to block traffic for another 21 days.

The Shukurwar peth work is also in progress, there also the work is begun from Budhwar peth cross and commuting from that road is also a big headache.

Work on smart roads in Shree Nagar is also in progress and also Nehru nagar.

KPTCL road is not yet ready but the Dumb guys blocked the road in front of Sukh sagar hotel up to Dharmanth Bhavan for white topping. So now commuters have to take the service road of the highway.

There is hardly any barricading or signages put up except for some Road is closed which are placed at points where it is not visible.
