Over the years the Fort lake after it was rejuvenated and with the commencement of boating, Musical fountain and other small park for kids is now a perfect weekend spot for the citizens.
Fort Lake Belagavi
In 2011 Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Ekroop Caur a floating cafeteria was launched at the fort lake.
Now the TOI reports that a new multi-storey floating open restaurant on lake water is proposed and most probably the work would be taken up under the Smart city plan.
The floating restaurant will be a modular floating restaurant will have space to keep 10 tables along with wash rooms for gents and ladies, a mini pantry place, clean water storage and drainage system. Besides, restaurant will have sewage storage tank with discharge pump, fire fighting house and life buoys.
Already the lake has a floating cafeteria and boating facilities but once this is operationalized which would take about 18-20 months it would be an added attraction for the citizens and tourists alike.
This the time for preparation for the Budget for the upcoming year for the Belagavi city corporation, but it is interesting to know that most of the works mentioned in last years budget have not been taken up at all and most plans are on paper only, and it seems the same would be carried forward in this years budget as well.
Sakal daily has elaborated the same in a nice manner and here here some snapshots from the same story.

These skilled stunt men, like many others in town, managed to grab my irritation. The image does not show the fact that the driver had three children with him in the front.
Children stuffed in an auto in Belagavi
One uniformed little girl sitting to his right, a little kid in between his legs and another to his left. See the other photo the boy can be easily hit on a narrow road such as the railway over bridge where the said photo has been taken.
Such sights are common on the streets of Belagavi and I guess many other places.
What kind of parents send kids to school with this stunt men??!!!!
The overflowing auto with bags dangling on both sides is a threatening sight. The auto is also amongst the most unbalanced vehicles that I know or perceive. One hit from a side is enough to topple the contents. One auto could even climb the over bridge in first gear, it had a hard time and at one moment I thought the kids would get down and give it a push.
While we are talking about helmets and traffic rules as a compulsion, why doesn’t anyone say or do anything about these occurrences?
At the same time forget the drivers, What about the parents who hire these stunt men and their services. Is it really worth the risk? Most if not all of them are the so called well educated folks.
Are we just waiting for an obvious mishap? Should it be so that only death will spur us to action?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would address a farmers rally in Belagavi on February 27 as part of efforts to create awareness about his government’s pro-farmer initiatives, including new crop insurance scheme.
Initially the Belagavi BJP had fixed CpEd ground for the rally but with the number of anticipated members at the rally the police asked the organisers to search for an alternate venue as it would create a lot of traffic chaos as many roads leading to the venue will have to be shut which will cause a lot of inconvenience to the citizens at large.
Sources said that the police have visited Angadi Institute of Technology and management on Savgaon road but the same has not yet been announced.
The rally would be the third in the series of ‘Kisan Sammelans’ planned country-wide. The other two would be held in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.
