Local BJP leaders along with industrialists push for Make in Belagavi
MP Suresh Angadi, Rajya Sabha member Prabhakar Kore and former MLA Abhay Patil along with city based industrialists Deepak Dhadoti and Bharat Deshapande met Defense minster Manohar Parrikar and railway minister Suresh Prabhu and held discussions on the action plan on how to get more investments in the manufacturing sector in Belagavi.
Manohar Parrikar has given tentative dates of September 7 and 8 for visiting Belagavi. He will take part in Make in India related seminar and interact with local entrepreneurs.
Speaking to the press, Deepak Dhadoti, chairman of Servocontrols Aerospace India Private Limited, said Belagavi has largest foundry industry and hydraulic industry. Both industries are running in recession due to various problems. If the technology of both industries are up-graded, there is good scope for defence manufacturing and manufacturing parts of aviation industry. He said he was looking forward to expand his clientele and was also interested in seeing the growth of Belagavi, which could be an ideal destination for investments for manufacture and assembly of aircraft, railway engines and compartments and steel.
Mr. Angadi said that political leaders would play the role of a “bridge” for existing and prospective entrepreneurs and the government to put Belagavi on the industrial growth map. He suggested that the Centre establish a unit of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. in Belagavi. Abhay Patil said a seminar would be held to discuss how the Centre could help market Belagavi-based manufacturers of aeronautical parts and other industrial products.
