The Tilakwadi police have filed a charge sheet against senior leader of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti Sambhaji L. Patil, MLA (Belgaum South) for his utterances against the State government on the occasion of winter session in 2013 at the Marathi Convention. Police officials said on Thursday that cases under Sections 153A, 505 and 506 had been registered against Mr. Patil.

Siddaramaiah assures KAT bench in Belagavi

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured that the KAT (Karnataka Administrative Tribunal) Bench would be established in Belagavi only.
He said the State govt. is committed for the establishment of the KAT bench in the city. The announcement has not been done due to some technical reasons like appointment of judges. CM Siddaramaiah met union law minister Sadananad Gowda and he has assured the speedy appointment of judges.

Excise minister Satish Jarkiholi who plans to sleep in a graveyard for a night. The Minister will stay overnight to ward off spirits or ghosts and the hosts of superstition attached to it.

The aim is to tell all that this is just another place.
As per the plan on the evening of December 6, minister would pack his bed and step into Vaikunth Dham(crematorium), Sadashiv nagar where already huge preparations have been made. The trip planned on December 6, coinciding with the death anniversary of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar. Awareness drives, programs on various myths and superstitions will be held. Satish Jarkiholi, who is among those pushing for the Anti-Superstition Bill.

The UpaLokayukta Justice Subhash B Adi, has instructed the Commissioner of the city corporation to take strict action against unauthorized hoardings/banners/flex and remove the same immediately.

Any disfigurement of public place is an offense under the Karnataka Open places (Prevention of Disfigurement) act 1981, hence the commissioner has been instructed to strictly abide by said rules and see to it that no such unauthorized hoardings/Banners/Flex come up gain at public places.
With the Assembly session at the corner and with VIP and VVIPs visiting the city all such banners must be removed.

Fire burns server at DCC bank

A fire which broke out in the server room of the DCC bank near Central bus stand this morning will cost the bank approximately Rs.3 crores.

Sources said that, the Computer IT room caught fire this morning at 6 am due to short circuit and this burnt everything like computers, servers, UPS, batteries & several records.

A case has been registered at Market Police Station.

grammy-windsofsamsiraThe Album Winds of Samsara is an album of Ricky Kej and Wouter Kellerman has been nominated for the Grammy awards 2015 under the New Age music category, and news on AAB is because Keerthy Narayan, from Belagavi was part of the team.

Keerthy Narayan’s played keyboard and also made music arrangements for the album “Winds of Samsara”.

Speaking to AAB, Keerthy said “10 years of hard work and music put together is now paying off.” Keerthy has worked with Ricky Kej for a decade now.

Speaking to AAB, Ricky Kej said ‘Keerthy’s contribution has been immense in this album right from arrangement to his inputs on sound. It has been a great journey with him for the past 10 years and he is part of all my projects. ‘
The album was at No.1 slot on the billboard charts as well.

Keerthy Narayan himself is a multifaceted personality originally from Kerala but now settled in Belgaum for the past 6 years which also happens to be his in-laws city. Keerthy is a music composer/arranger with Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam movies for the past 10 odd years.

Belgaum is a popular place to hang out for a day or two for many frequent visitors, especially from Goa, Pune and Mumbai. Compared to the metros, it’s a tiny city, but with a flavour of mixed culture now.

The resident industrialists in 50’s and 60’s dreamt about making this an industrial city, but somehow, presently this place has become a great educational hub.

Many newly sprung colleges catering various courses has led to increase in the population of the city to great extent. As a result, the civic infrastructure has some how had to be geared up to cope up with conditions, but as we all can see, it has been failing to do so.

painting-city-cleanthe occasion of assembly session, city corporation took all efforts to clean and asphalt all the roads covering the pot holes overnight. All main roads, not only were swept, but washed thoroughly through corners and corners with the power water pumps. Dividers were painted. all the reflecting driving signs were cleaned. All the heaps of garbage lying around each corners of the roads were cleaned up in a best manner. It so felt that this beautiful city took a “holy bath” after long long time! The point is, Why all this? only because of the VIPs are visiting the town? Isn’t it the duty of the city corporation to maintain such cleanliness all the year round?

The citizens don’t need cleanliness but only politicians need?

I am aware, that corporation takes all the actions immediately after making a complaint. If we call the hot line of the city corporation for any complaints, they care to take the note of it for sure. but Why should this happen any way? Why should the system give a chance to complain?

It has a become a habit of the governance on every level, that it won’t act unless you complain. The local newly elected corporators and the local area sanitary inspectors lack the basic interest about cleanliness. Someone has to energize all these people with the spirit that NOT only my house, but this whole city belongs to me, and we all must keep it clean all the time!

Sanjay Deshpande is a noted and versatile sitar player who is known for presenting a variety of music forms on his Sanjaykhani Sitar.

The so called second capital of Karnataka is becoming uglier by the day. City is in a shambles: there is chaos on the streets with everyone trying to dodge the craters on the road from Belagavi to Khanapur.

Each day driving on this road is a nightmare, if one tries to dodge one crater, you fall into another. If your speed is above 20 kms be sure some parts of the vehicle will be damaged.

The said road hasnt been repaired for over a year now and no one seems even interested in repairing the same.

This is officially NH4A a national highway connecting Belagavi to Panjim. The said road was to be widened but due to permission issues from Forest department the plan was scrapped and with that scrapping no one is interested in repairing the road as well.

Most vehicles from Goa take the Chorla route which is smooth and better.
Gopal Krishna who sent us this photos said, why are we neglected, why cant the Govt look into this or is it that until a serious accident occurs no one is going to see us. So one must die in this country to tell the world that he too existed.

Nanajappa Shivananjappa(22), lodged in the Hindalga jail committed suicide by hanging himself in the toilet near barrack No. 7 of Hindalaga central jail,. He was sentenced to death for rape and murder.

Tiger to be relocated

Tiger to be relocated

That ‘tiger’ brought from Chikmanglur which had killed an ox and a calf may be relocated elsewhere. The national tiger conservation authority is said to have issued directions for the recapture and relocation of the said tiger.

The Tiger was released recently and this created panic in the villagers especially near Gavali and Talewadi.

A letter from the National Tiger Conservation Authority and a couple of officials have also visited the Bhimgad Sanctuary and asked the team involved in the search to relocate the Tiger.

The district administration has given conditional permission to the Mes Maha Melava (Convention) to be held on December 9, at the Vaccine Depot Grounds to coincide with the first day of the winter session at Suvarna Vidhan Soudha.

Strict conditions have been put in place which include no hate speech against the state and also no hate speech amongst communities.
A large number of Marathi-speaking people from Belgaum, Khanapur besides Maharashtra are expected to converge here for the melava. The MES had been organising the melava ever since the Karnataka government started holding legislature sessions in Belgaum.

All set for the Winter session

Over Six thousand security personnel, including Police and Home guards, have been deployed at various places in Belagavi for the winter session of state legislature beginning on December 9.
This is the 5th session of the 14th Assembly and would commence from Tuesday and would end on December 20.

There are huge protests lined up and police has made a separate ground for the protesters about 2 kms away from the SVS.

It was in 2006 session of the legislature was held in Belgaum for the first time at the KLE University premises. Also prohibitory order u/s 144 have been imposed in the 2 kms range of the SVS. More than 300 CCTV cameras have been installed. More than 50000+ BJP Karyakartas will Seize Suvarna Soudha tomorrow at Belagavi against the failures of Congress Govt in the state.
836 rooms in 53 hotels have been booked in Belagavi and also about 100 rooms in Hubbali for the MLA’s/Staff etc. Bomb Disposal squad is also here. Anti suicide squad will also be present after a farmer consumed poison in the last session.

From 16 to 24 January 2009, when the B.S. Yeddyurappa government was in power.

Kagodu Thimmappa, speaker of the Legislative assembly said that “I believe it is due to a lot of distractions in Bengaluru. What distraction do you have in Belagavi? All through the session, the legislators do not have any other distraction than to attend the legislative assembly and council proceedings.”
MLAs & MLCs have to attend the session and then head back straight to their rooms. Attendance has been an average 99% where as in Bengaluru is as low as 35% sometimes.

B.S.Yeddyurappa, Prahlad Joshi and other Karnataka BJP Leaders arrested during protest against removal of tainted ministers near Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, Belagavi.
The BJP had arranged a special program at Konduskop near the Suvarna Soudha at 12 pm and their plan was to lay seizure of the SVS. BJP is also seeking resignation of four ministers – HS Mahadeva Prasad, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Qamarul Islam and KJ George for alleged land grab and failure of the Siddaramaiah government in preventing sexual assaults on women and children. The protest was led by BJP’s National Vice President and former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

MES Maha Melava (Convention) was held on December 9, at the Vaccine Depot Grounds to coincide with the first day of the winter session at Suvarna Vidhan Soudha.
Strict conditions have been put in place which include no hate speech against the state and also no hate speech amongst communities.
N D Patil, Sambhaji Patil(MLA Khanapur) and Arvind Patil (MLA Khanapur) spoke on the occasion. The speakers at the convention reiterated their stand of fighting till the last drop of blood to go into Maharashtra. MLA Sambhaji Patil said now it is time to move this agitation from Belgaum to Mumbai and then to Delhi.belgaum-mahamelava-1

Advocates call off stir

Members of the Belagavi Bar Association called of their indefinite agitation following Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s assurance to establish the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal’s Bench in the city. The advocates will attend court from tomorrow.
