Encounter specialist and known as the tough man B R Ravikanthe Gowda will be the new Superintendent of Police of Belgaum. Dr.Chandragupta has been Transfered to Ramnagar.
Ravikanthe Gowda is the son of well-known short-story writer Besagarahalli Ramanna, is also a poet and a singer. He makes it a point to pursue his passion for reading and Hindustani music.

The 48 year old is well known for his tactful handling and fearlessness in the police fraternity.
Gowda is acknowledged in police circles as “communal and an encounter specialist”. His dare-devil act of killing three rowdies in Bangalore some years ago, his success in thwarting simmering communal tensions and the guts he showed in raiding the treacherous hooch dens in Hubli-Dharwad, has earned him the sobriquet `Mandyada Huli’ (tiger). Gowda also nabbed underworld don Sudhir Prabhu in Mysore. He’s not your typical policeman. He may be tough when need be, but he’s also modest and ever-smiling.
