The city corporation Belagavi is set to establish vending zones at three locations: Nargundkar Bhave Chowk, Kanda Market, and Kotwal Galli. A budget of Rs 1.10 crore has been allocated for the project, as revealed by Deputy Commissioner of Administration Udayakumar Talwar during a City Trade Committee meeting at the Municipal Corporation on Wednesday.
These vending zones will include amenities such as roofs, water supply, lighting, and toilets. However, the implementation is pending a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the police department. Police representatives assured that the process for granting the NOC is underway and will be completed soon.

In addition, there was a demand for exempting ground rent for the vendors, which will be decided upon shortly. The proposal, once approved by the municipal corporation’s general meeting, will be sent to the government for final approval.
Notably, a proposal for a vending zone in Dane Galli, Shahapur, has been temporarily shelved.
