The TOI in a story, mentions Belgaum might get a tree park soon quoting forest office sources.

The Tree park would be developed in 20-25 acres of the sprawling 156 acres. Various sacred, endangered and medicinal plants will be grown and protected in the park. Written information about species and other details of the plants and trees will also be displayed.
Also there is a plan for a sapling counter to be established which can provide saplings.
Vaccine depot has been in the news for numerous occasions since 2008 when Kumarswami had decided to build the Suvarna Soudha there. Then the plan was scrapped and a heritage park was planned. Still the heritage plan is on papers but a few trees have been cut on a couple of occasion for laying the foundation stone for a Glass house as well. Then our town planners suddenly found Vaccine depot to be best suited for the Indoor stadium and then one day they realized it will destroy a lot of flora and fauna and scrapped the project. A plan of building a heritage village was also on the anvil and even work had been under taken inside the Vaccine depot where all the waste was also thrown inside the green zone. But, now its implementation looks bleak.

This plan of a tree park which has been forwarded by the forest department looks good again on paper but will the Vaccine depot really become a protected green zone, only time can tell.
