This is some good news to the air travelers from Belagavi (IXG) as Star Air, owned by the Sanjay Ghodawat group is opening its Ticket counter and office at the Sambra Airport soon.
Star Air has begun the work on the establishment of its ticket counter at the Belagavi Airport, but still, it is very unclear as to when and which destinations it would commence operations.
The Star Air, the website also has a mention of Belagavi along with Hubballi, Pune, Bengaluru, Tirupati, Trivandrum in it’s booking form.
Already Star Air’s aircraft, a ERJ-145 or Embraer jet which can seat roughly 50 people in a 2+1 configuration have arrived in India and also have been given a Flying nod by DGCA in August.
Under UDAN, Star Air has bagged three routes, namely Hubballi-Pune, Hubballi-Hindon (Delhi) and Hubballi-Tirupati.
So when it will commence operations it will commence from HBX for sure but its initial plan was to make IXG as its hub.
The Winter Schedule of the Flight Operators will be released on October 28, in which there could be some more info on the routes.
The wait could be longer as well, Star Air would like to take the UDAN route from IXG as well and for that, it might want to wait and watch until UDAN 3 is declared.
Sources within the aviation ministry and SAVEIXG group are quite confident that Belagavi will be included in UDAN 3.
