The High Court of Karnataka passed the order on June 28 allowing cold storage owners Shakeer Inayat Barafwala and Mohammad Hussein Inayatwala to seek the release of the seized material from the local police.

Challenging this order, Animal Welfare Board of India has approached the Supreme Court challenging the High Court of Karnataka order allowing two cold storages in Belagavi to seek the release of seized animal meat. A case against the cold storages is pending in a local court.

The Supreme Court has admitted the petition. A Bench headed by the Chief Justice is expected to hear the matter, government advocates in Belagavi said.
