Mulveer Jewellers emerge Champions in Belgaum Juniors League
Mulveer Jewellers stunned fancied I – T Knights by 6 wickets in the finals and won the first ‘Vijaya Hospital’ Belgaum Juniors League Cricket Tournament organized by Vijaya cricket Academy at Union Gymkhana.
Batting first after winning the toss I-T Knights never got any rhythm as they lost wickets at regular Intervals. They were 36 for 4 at one stage but recovered to 115 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 25 overs. Prathamesh Yarnalkar scored 36 runs, Ravichandra Ukkali scored 29, Tushar Chougule scored 21 runs. For Mulveer Jewellers Ashish Maliye picked up 4, Om Vernekar 2, Bhushan Nemannawar and Arhan doddannawar both picking up one wicket each. In reply riding on fine half century from Akash Vernekar Mulveer Jewellers overhauled the I-T knights scored in 21.5 overs scoring 119 runs for the loss of only 4 wickets.Akash Vernekar was unbeaten on 61 runs with 7 fours and one six, Maheshwar Marihalkar scored 16, Om Vernekar scored 15 and Vaibhav Kuribagi scored 14 runs. For Ganesh Jambhale picked up the one wicket and other 3 batsmen were runout.
Akash Vernekar was declared the Man of the Finals, Om Vernekar was awarded the Man of the Series award. Vicky Sawant of I-T Knights was adjudged the Best Bowler of the Tournament , Kishan Meghraj of I-T Knights was the Best Batsman and Akhilesh Vernekar was awarded the Best Wicket Keeper award.
