Lack of rain results in drying up of Gokak Falls
Soaring temperatures and a lack of rain has resulted in the drying up of waterfalls, such as Gokak Waterfalls.
Gokak is a monsoon tourist hub for tourists to see the river Ghataprabha rush forth in a majestic manner as she dashes down through a cleft of 167 ft, to form a famous Gokak Falls.
The livelihood of several families in the area is dependent on tourism. Due to its drying up whatever little money the vendors used to earn from here has gone. Tourist’s still come on weekends but they all complain that there is no water.
