Minister promises to fill vacant posts of Corporation
Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake yesterday took out time midway through the Legislature session to review development works taken up by the Belagavi City Corporation. He said the vacancies of engineers in the Water supply and, town planning and corporations would be filled up soon.
He said the 24×7 drinking water supply for the Belagavi City Corporation area would commence soon at an estimated Rs. 431 crore. Also, a Rs. 470-crore proposal for laying underground drainage lines in the city would be approved soon. He advised BCC officials to submit a detailed project report for the proposed outer ring road under PPP or BOT model.
Unhappy with poor tax receipts, which had also been objected to by the Comptroller and Auditor General, he also pointed out that the BCC had not adequately utilised the grants sanctioned by the government for the year 2011-12.
None of the councillors or the elected representatives raised the issue of compensation for the road widening project under taken recently, which was quite surprising.
